I can't believe we don't have a thread on this. It's sad, really. Eva is a classic anime sereis, and anybody whose anybody should see it...like now. Some may find it hard to understand, confusing, or all of the above, the action sub-par, the animation not as great, and the dubbs not as good as some others, but remember now, this series is officially now 9 years old. Just to let you know, I love everything about it, even though it doesn't have the coolest special effects. It's plot is amazingly awsome.
So, I've made a list of reasons to inform you if you'll like NGE:
-If you understood FLCL, or at least liked it in a sense that you almost understood it.
-If you ever played Xenogears or Xenosaga and understood it.
-If you like reading, particularly mythology, religious writings, or intricate original but scientific plots.
-If you are a fan of symobolism, and/or have taken up practicing/liking Trancendentalism. (See Ralph Waldo Emmerson)
-If you like giant robots, political intrigue, science fiction, anime humor, religious symbolism, society, the human institution, technological advancements, or the finer points of Final Fantasy 7.
-If you like inner-psychological problems.
If you like enough action, suspense, and drama to get you up to the point where your mind explodes with questions.
-If you like to think heavily, draw conclusions, or find the finer metaphorical meaning behind things. (For all you that have only had one experience with this, in laymans "If you though alot after watching the matrix", not that the matrix was that much of a though-provoking movie, but it's a good example.)
You will not like this series if:
-You only watch action films
-You have no idea what I'm talking about when I bring up point four. UNLESS you want to learn about it.
You don't like dialogue, technology, or things you cannot understand.
